Students of 91快播鈥檚 Triton Investments, formerly the Student Investment Club, are preparing to make a return trip to the hosted by the Asia Pacific Association for Fiduciary Studies. The 18th annual conference, scheduled for Nov. 25鈥�30 in Manila, will be the seventh the club has attended.

鈥淥ver the years the APAFS  has bridged the gap between teachings and lectures in the classrooms and the dynamic applications of the financial markets/industry,鈥� said Leila Kabigting, associate professor of finance at UOG and adviser of Triton Investments.

APAFS, a Guam-based nonprofit educational and charitable association, has designed the conference to be the premier investment conference in the region, linking educational forums on the role of fiduciaries to region-specific issues. The forums offer insight and research from influential and prominent financial figures from across the Asia-Pacific region.

鈥淚t continues to be one of the primary sources of education outside of the classroom setting on current and complex global financial and economic markets and best practices,鈥� Kabigting said.

In its effort to promote key investment and fiduciary practices at the collegiate level, APAFS sponsored the club鈥檚 participation at the conference in Manila last year, sending seven students and Kabigting as their adviser.

The students were presented with unique opportunities to engage and network with prominent figures from Guam, Micronesia, and the Asia region and to gain experience and knowledge in their preparation toward becoming prudent financial stewards.

鈥淎ttending APAFS was a great way to get out of the university environment while still maintaining an educational capacity to broaden what we learn from the classes and lectures provided by UOG,鈥� said Dylan Lee, a member of Triton Investments.

Josiah Lanuza, the club鈥檚 vice president of activities, said, 鈥淎s a freshman, going to APAFS was an eye-opening experience into the financial world, and it helped me narrow down my decisions towards my education.鈥�

The club is seeking sponsorship from APAFS again this year to fund their attendance to the November conference.
