Enhancing the Digital Guafak
Hafa Adai,
The University Libraries Digital Repository strives to preserve digital artifacts and resources from Guam and Micronesia showcasing indigenous knowledge and Island Wisdom. This is achieved through the collective efforts of our University Libraries core team, partnerships (GDOE, Young Men鈥檚 League of Guam, University Press), DRC advisement, and grant funding through Governor Lou Leon Guerrero鈥檚 ESF II Education Stabilization Fund (S425H200004). The team seeks to digitize collections for remote accessibility and preservation, as well as create bespoke digital tools to improve digital content management of archival collections and exhibitions. Listed are featured projects that have been produced by the team鈥檚 iterative processes and collective effort.
Omeka CMS
Utilizing the Omeka CMS platform, this searchable database gives remote access to collections from the MARC Library, Digitized Thesis Collections, YMLG CHamoru Language Collection, Memoirs Pasifika, and more. The database can be accessed through the following link:
Checksum Checker
The UL Digital Team Checksum Checker is a bespoke digital interface currently used in-house for cluster sampling of archival material. This tool is used to help establish fixity/integrity by comparing archival material to a copies through checksum algorithms such as MD5 or SHA1. A public version for this tool is in development and will be available as a standalone application.

Activities
Inspired by efforts to create engaging outreach tools as an extension of University Libraries, the team is constantly seeking and developing new concepts for digital exhibition. This includes research in audio, video, geocaching, and new ways to represent digital surrogates for analog materials in an evolving virtual landscape.
