President Emeritus Underwood to give talk on CHamoru self-determination

In late July of this year, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld the District Court of Guam鈥檚 ruling in Davis v. Guam. This has led to the government of Guam planning its next steps forward. The ruling has also brought forth many questions, arguments, and misconceptions surrounding decolonization and self-determination.
In light of this, two 91快播 student organizations 鈥� the Political Science Student Association and Ma帽e鈥檒on Marianas 鈥� are hosting 鈥淪etting the Record Straight: The Recent Historical Basis of CHamoru Self-Determination,鈥� a presentation by President Emeritus of the 91快播 and former Congressman Dr. Robert A. Underwood.
In his presentation, Underwood will trace the history of the CHamoru push for self-determination, from his time as the first CHamoru to testify at the United Nations in the 1980s up to the Davis v. Guam case today. While tracing this history, Underwood will also demystify many of the common misconceptions surrounding the issues and take questions during a subsequent Q&A session.
The presentation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the 91快播鈥檚 CLASS Lecture Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
