"Outstanding commitment to growth and excellence has earned (UOG SHRM) the prestigious Outstanding Student Chapter Award for the Academic Year 2022-2023," said Beatriz Arcilla, a UOG Business Administration alumna and UOG SHRM Fa帽omn氓kan 2023 President.

The SHRM Student Chapter Merit Award program encourages the development of more effective student chapters and distinguishes outstanding activities and projects.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a true testament of the dedication and passion of our officers, members, advisors and mentors. This award belongs to the entire team, and I鈥檓 excited to see what UOG SHRM can achieve together and continue to earn this prestigious award year after year,鈥� said Jamie Freitas, a UOG Business Administration alumna and UOG SHRM Fanuch氓nan 2022 President.

Since its inception in 1996-1997, the UOG SHRM student chapter has received other merit awards through its active participation in the UOG community and HR activities beyond the campus. UOG SHRM鈥檚 latest award is for activities between May 1, 2022, and April 30, 2023.

Dr. Richard S. Colfax, UOG SHRM Co-Advisor and Emeritus Professor, said the student award is comparable to the Pinnacle Award for the professional chapter.

鈥淚t is a testament to the efforts and commitment that UOG鈥檚 SHRM students, advisor and the HR program continue to make,鈥� Dr. Colfax said.

鈥淥ur regional and local businesses will benefit from the learning, accomplishments and experiences that these future Human Resource professionals are gaining through UOG's Human Resource Management program and studies.鈥�  

The student chapter's activities included organizing events such as the Mock Job Fair and the SHRM Thrive Wellness Fair.
