Clean energy advocate Henk Rogers engages virtual Conference on Island Sustainability audience
The second week of the 91快播 Virtual Conference Series on Island Sustainability last Friday focused on renewable energy as Henk Rogers, founder and CEO of Blue Planet Foundation, engaged a virtual audience of about 500 viewers.
Rogers shared his journey in entrepreneurship and advocacy of ending the use of carbon-based fuel to save the planet from climate change destruction. One of his biggest successes was Hawaii鈥檚 passage of a law mandating 100% renewable energy by the year 2045. Hawaii was the first in the country to make this commitment and has since inspired other states and U.S. territories to create their own mandate, including Guam.
Sen. Amanda Shelton, author of Guam鈥檚 100% renewable energy mandate (Public Law 35-46), and co-author Sen. Clynt Ridgell presented a legislative resolution to Rogers during the conference. Resolution 325-35 (COR) recognizes Rogers for his commitment to the mission of stewarding the environment, most notably through clean energy and commends him for his service as a global leader.
In turn, Rogers welcomed Guam as the newest member of the Blue Planet Alliance, Roger鈥檚 newest initiative that takes a 鈥渕andate first鈥 approach to initiating global climate change action. He presented special Certificates of Commitment to Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero, Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio, and the 35th Guam Legislature.
