Tryouts are set for:

• Baseball: 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Aug. 16, at the George Washington High School baseball field
• Women鈥檚 Soccer: 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Aug. 16, at the UOG soccer field behind the Calvo Field House
• Women's Basketball: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Aug. 16, at the Calvo Field House

"We鈥檙e hoping to complete our team rosters to give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete at the varsity level. We have 10 slots open for women鈥檚 basketball, 10 slots open for women鈥檚 soccer, and eight slots open for baseball,鈥� said UOG Athletics Director Doug Palmer. 鈥淲hether they鈥檙e new to the sport or seasoned athletes, we welcome students at all levels to participate in tryouts.鈥�

Athletic grants available

Athletic grants can be earned at the discretion and recommendation of the head coach with the approval of the athletics director. Eligible students will have the opportunity to earn up to $2,000 each to help cover the cost of tuition for the Fanuch氓nan 2021 semester. To be eligible, students must have a 2.50 GPA, first-time freshmen must have a 3.0 GPA out of high school, and transfer students must have a 2.50 GPA.

Participation requirements

Current UOG students must be taking at least six credits and have a 2.00 GPA. First-time freshmen must have a 2.50 GPA out of high school to play their first semester at the university. Transfer students must have a 2.00 GPA from their previous school to play at UOG.

All students participating in tryouts must provide proof of partial or full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within seven days of the tryout date. Prior to playing in outside competition, student-athletes must obtain an athletic physical and be fully vaccinated.
