MPA alumna Arlie Bonto uses Love of Learning Award to earn professional certification
After becoming Guam鈥檚 first recipient of the , UOG alumna Arlie Bonto, 鈥15 , 鈥20 , continued her pursuit of professional development and earned the Certified Manager certification.
Established in 2007, the Love of Learning program was designed to support the post-baccalaureate professional development of active Phi Kappa Phi members. Applicants are selected based on academic achievement, campus and community service, intended use of award funds as it relates to academic and career goals, and a personal statement.
Bonto, one of 200 recipients for 2021, used the $500 award to finance her CM certification.
鈥淚t is remarkable that Arlie took this initiative,鈥 said UOG Phi Kappa Phi Chapter President Troy McVey. 鈥淸It is] testament to the determination of all UOG students [鈥. Ms. Bonto and Dr. [John] Rivera should be proud of taking advantage of this national competition to increase local knowledge and expertise.鈥
The CM certification, which is backed by the largest management certifying body in the United States, is a professional credentialing program that verifies an individual鈥檚 ability to manage and lead with a level of competency. Bonto received her certification in November after completing 90 learning hours and successfully passing a series of three assessment exams.
鈥淲ith my newfound knowledge and skills, I hope to make an impact and contribute to our island鈥檚 goal to be a healthy island, healthy people,鈥 she said.
The 91快播 became the 354th chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation鈥檚 oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society recognizing academic excellence, in March 2020.
