The management of grant-funded research and development activities at the University of Guam is advancing to a cloud-based platform called the Cayuse Research Suite. The system will create an online hub for administrators and principal investigators that will streamline project tracking and improve analytics of the University鈥檚 grants overall.
The 91快播 ranks in the top 35% of national universities for research and development expenditures, according to the by the National Science Foundation. The 2021 Annual Report released this week by the UOG Office of Research & Sponsored Programs details a record total of $44 million in 鈥� predominately federal 鈥� grant funding for 2021.
鈥淲e have a significant research portfolio for a university of our size, and the new Cayuse platform will be an essential component of propelling us even higher and supporting our strategic initiatives of being recognized as a research university centered in island wisdom and leading as a partnership institution for Guam and all of our region,鈥� said UOG President Thomas W. Krise.
One of the University鈥檚 primary goals in its Para Hulo鈥� Strategic Plan is to advance its Carnegie Classification status as a research university.
Cayuse is an industry leader globally in research administration. Using its platform, UOG administrators and principal investigators will be able to submit grant applications to grants.gov, reference previous grant applications submitted, receive automated notifications on deadlines, track project funding, and more. Additionally, the platform will allow the University as a whole to more efficiently run analytics on its grant awards over time and by department.

Aside from the CARES Act economic stimulus funding, the 91快播鈥檚 largest awards in 2021 were:
- $8.5 million from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for the construction of a nursing annex and a new facility for the Water & Environmental Research Institute.
- $4.6 million from the National Science Foundation EPSCoR grant for the Guam Ecosystems Collaboratorium for Corals & Oceans (GECCO) Biorepository;
- $1.4 million from the National Cancer Institute for the Pacific Island Partnership for Cancer Health Equity program under the UOG Cancer Research Center
