UOG and Guam Museum to host part two of virtual tour series for older adults and persons with dementia

9/14/2021

The 91快播鈥檚 Isa Psychological Services Center and the Guam Museum are collaborating to offer part two of a virtual tour series specially designed for older adults and persons with dementia who might not be able to visit the museum in person, as well as members of their families.

Part two of the tour will focus on the museum鈥檚 third gallery, 鈥淕inen I Ma帽aina-ta,鈥 which translates into 鈥淥ur Ancient Heritage.鈥 The exhibit tells the story of the ancient CHamoru way of life with replicas of the sakman (seafaring outrigger canoe), guma鈥 higai (pole-and-thatch dwelling), and guma鈥 latte鈥 (latte house). Guam Museum Curator Michael Lujan Bevacqua, who holds a doctorate in ethnic studies and specializes in CHamoru history, language, and culture, will be conducting the virtual tour.

The tour is part of Isa鈥檚 online support groups for family caregivers of persons with dementia being conducted in collaboration with the UOG School of Health鈥檚 Guam/Micronesia Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program. The virtual tour is meant to provide a stimulating and meaningful experience for participants to enjoy from the comfort and safety of their homes.

The tour will be held at the following times:
